Photo 1
My first photo is of a female 'color runner'. The main content of the image is of the runner, so I've allowed the surrounding area to be blurred so as not to distract from the main subject. Newspapers like to print images of happy faces at an event like a fun run, and the fact that the girl in the photo is smilling contributes to the likelihood of the photograph being printed. However, the slight bluring of the girl herself, is less attractive for a photo. I think had there been more runners in the photo, it might have been printed but just the girl alone isn't enough.

My second photo is of a lone male color runner. Once again the main emphasis of the photo is the man in focus in the foreground. The photo shows the determination on the runners face, but also shows happiness for the event - something that newspapers like to see - enjoyment. The composition of the photograph is good as it shows a crowd in the background making the audience aware that the event was well attended.
Photo 3
This photo may have been featured within a big page spread full of photos but I'm not sure it would have been printed as one of the main images from the event. The framing and colouring of the photo is pleasing, and while it shows all of the colours together, it doesn't show any participants of the run. I do however think this photo could have been printed but would have a better chance if the subjects were facing the camera.
Photo 4
I think this is a good photo to represent the event. It shows a broad spectrum of the participants, from children/men/women and the happy faces and rised hands emphasises the happy atmosphere of the event. It could have been better if the runners had paint on the white shirts, but it's a good image to show as the start of the race, when everyone was clean.
Photo 5
This is one of my favourite photos from the event as I think it shows many of the aspects a newspaper would look for in a photo covering a story. It has the happy smiley face of the girl in the foreground, covered in pink paint, it shows 'The Color Run' badge and the Dulux brand which is good publicity for the event.
